Relationship stages
- aware of the existent of someone
- perceptual contact and interactional contact take place
- perceptual - could be detected by 5 human sense
- interactional - first point of contact, usually is a introduction of both parties to know each other
Stage 2 : Involvement
- having tighter bonds with another, eg. friend
- testing and intensifying each other
- TESTING - try to know each others' interest by asking questions
- INTENSIFYING - amount of time that both parties contribute to each other
Stage 3 : Intimacy
- closer, deeper and stronger relationship, eg. best friend
- explicit display of affection
- feel familiar and comfortable to each other
- same likings, beliefs and ideas
Stage 4 : Deterioration
- the bond between one another weakens due to communication factors
- eg. temporal factors, cultural factors, societal context
- intrapersonal and interpersonal dissatisfaction become apparent
Stage 5 : Repair or Dissolution
5(a) Repair
- try to solve the problem that weakens the bond during deterioration stage
- intrapersonal and interpersonal repair
- Intrapersonal repair, eg. changing ownself's behavior, changing your expectation towards the others
- Interpersonal repair, eg discuss the problem among each others
5(b) Dissolution
- bonds are broken
- relationship returned back to a plantoic (neutral level/ before frienship)
- interpersonal and social separation take place
- interpersonal separation, eg. stop interacting with each others
- social separation (also known as public separation), eg. avoid meeting each other

people in a relationship like to explore extreme qualities which are opposite. there are 3 pairs of opposites qualities which are:

- People would like to explore the personality of the individuals who are related to them
- eg. friends, family, girl friend, boy friend, etc.
- The Deeper the relationship, the deeper the person get to know the core personality
